Our close wet shave will take a couple more minutes than a gel or foamy shave but the rewards can be felt all day. We aim for simplicity with exceptional comfort, designed to last 5/6 months per pot.

Pre-shave

Pre-Shave is not needed by everyone. It is useful where added protection is preferred or for a speedy shave, heavy beards, careful navigation of scars and moles or to help with beard and hairline edging.

Oil free so not to inhibit the water-rich shaving process which follows whilst protecting the porosity of your brush. Unscented so it can be used with all of our creams.

Shaving Cream

Developed originally for those who found shaving uncomfortable. Using our original formula, this is still made in batches of 500 to retain its luxurious, fine lather with a comfortable cushion and slip for a long lasting shave.

Initially only fragranced with Essential Oils, our 1445 scent was added to the grooming collection following years of requests.

Post Shave

Our Aftershave Balm is gently calming, nourishing and moisturising. While wet shaving is a perfect way to exfoliate the skin evenly, several layers of ‘dead’ skin cells are lost, nature put these in place to help protect from atmospheric toxins, dust and pollutants. The anti-inflammatory Witch Hazel base is instantly soothing and known for centuries of use on sore and irritated skin. Our Aftershave Balm is gently calming, nourishing and moisturising.

Instructions for the Perfect Castle Forbes Shave

Dip the brush into hot water, flick off excess and ‘swipe’ off a small amount of the cream from the pot.

Lather up with circular motions on the face, small additions of water produce more lather while the brush is massaging the skin and raising the hair shaft.

The first pass of the blades should be with the growth of the hair, usually downwards on the face and upwards under the chin.

Again dip the tip of the brush into the water and the cream will lather for 2nd and 3rd pass if needed – use more water, not more shaving cream.

As a guide for how much to use, our 200ml jar lasts the average user 5/6 months. Although we loath to admit it, our shaves require more water and less product.

Lavender oil. Used for centuries to aid skin healing, this is usually the choice of sensitive and razor-burn prone shavers. Our glorious English Lavender Oil also has a long history for an ability to relax the system and promote a sense of wellbeing.
